Allowing Our Moon’s Magnetics to Pull You toward Stillness

In the early 1980s, I remember feeling bewildered that I had energy during one-half of each month and wanted to do nothing the other half of each month. This confusion was before I had consciousness around the permeable flow of the Moon’s rhythms in nature and within me.

Now that I understand the shifting rhythms, I work with them consciously. I have just had my Personal Dark Moon with its luscious pull to be quiet and still. It is a majical time that filters, warms and nurtures. Dark Moons rest my body, Soul, and Spirit.

Everyone has his or her unique patterning between the Personal and the Collective Lunar Cycles.  My Personal New Moon occurs about one week before the Collective New Moon. With this patterning, I have three days of magnetic pull to stillness and then an energetic uplift with my Personal New Moon. A few days after this, I go down and in again with the Collective Dark Moon, and then a fuller, energetic resurgence with the Collective New Moon. During the last ten days of the Collective Lunar Cycle, for me,  the needle on the energy spectrum trends toward low.

Flowing with this pattern allows my body rest and more rest, with the reflective peace that comes with stillness. These are abundantly rich times, and I resurface in both the Personal and Collective New Moons with new insights, and fresh starts.

The reflection that broke through the surface during this recent Personal Dark Moon relates to the heavy tension that gets stored in my body when I focus on the unexplainable chaos in our world now. In the United States, we have someone in power appearing to break all rules, yet keeps going. We have police shooting people to death, without charges brought against them and we have a former, revered comedian on trial for sexual assault, with legions of women in the background echoing similar assault, and the trial results in a hung jury.  In the world, we have audacious events of mass deaths by unfathomable acts of terror. Who can explain this topsy-turvy world?

For those of us working with the collective consciousness shift to higher dimensions, we understand that these bizarre outer circumstances represent the dismantling of the old order.  We get that. Living through it is another matter, as hardly anyone anticipated the dismantling would be so disgraceful, shocking, offensive, extreme.

The impact on our collective psyche is serious. People who are not aware of the quantum dimensional shift are having a tough time. People who are aware of this quantum shift are also having a tough time. Stress levels tip the balance scales with somber effect.

I have felt this stress as it shows up in clenched muscle tension that stifles life flow. This physical contraction hurts, and as a sovereign being, I must shift this. We all have anchors that bring us to center. One of my main anchors involves synchronizing physical energy levels with Moon flow.

Because I stopped, rested, and listened during my most recent Personal Dark Moon, I heard a plan that come through my inner caretaker.  During the Collective Dark Moon this week, I am taking a news cleanse.  I am not reading news online. I already do not watch the news on TV, and this week, I am giving up the hours I spend every day reading news online.  Our New Moon occurs Friday evening, June 23, 10:32 PM, EDT.  I will discern then whether I want to return to spending precious, potentially creative, moments reading news online.

Before the November election, I stopped listening to NPR news and have not returned to that practice. My system cannot take it.  My system has been on overload with all the online news I consumed,  and in this collective Dark Moon, I release that practice, too. I will have more time for creativity, more time for connecting with others, more time for tending to my inner life, as is optimal during a dark Moon phase.

It is rough out there. We must keep to kindness and supreme self-care. Do you feel the magnetic pull to stillness when it knocks on your psyche? Are you allowing it to help you stop, rest and listen to your inner wisdom? Please share in the comments section. If you would like assistance determining the pattern between your Personal and Collective Lunar Cycles, let me know.

12 Genuine, Fresh Start Dates in 2017

copper-1476023_1280-swirl

We are at that time of year when we turn the page. We have reviewed the past year, released what we no longer want and set our vision for a wonderful, majical, fulfilling 2017. A new beginning, a fresh start.

Many people use a restart date that coincides with a natural cycle, like the Solstice or the Spring Equinox, wherever they consider the start of a new year. Many cultures start the New Year with a New Moon.  For many others, though, January 1 is the reset button. It does helps to use markers for assessment and evaluation and the marker of the Gregorian Calendar Year is deep in our collective psyche.

In whatever measurement, a natural cycle or the common calendar, one year seems a long time to hold the focus. Much can fall through the cracks, distraction overwhelms and focus wanes. It seems inevitable that accountability falters when held in the frame for one full year.

There is another way to release, revise and measure.  This other way uses each lunar cycle as a definitive unit for accountability. As I have written before, cycles are the current through which we flow through life.

This 28-day cycle measurement is easier on the body, the mind and the emotions because our Moon is considered Mother energy and we feel her flow. The Lunar Cycle is not as stern as a full year’s measurement. Yes, we can use both cyclic measurements, with perhaps the year as an overview and the lunar month as a consistent check-in point.

If you accept the invitation to use the Moon as marker for bringing intentions, goals and visions into alignment with your wisdom and your action, the twelve New Moons for 2017 are listed below.  The two listed in bold are eclipses, especially potent days for reviews and restarts and I will write more about those in an upcoming blog post.

One suggestion for maximizing these review/restart pivots is to mark three full 24 hour periods that precede these dates and times on your calendar using the notation, “Dark of the Moon.”  The Dark of the Moon is the emptying out phase of this natural cycle and bodies resonate with this rhythm.   During the Dark Moon time, limit your schedule as much as you can and allow for extra rest and inner wandering. Soon after the New Moon, acknowledge the upward surge of energy; the restart has begun.

Use the Dark Moon for gentle release, stillness and divine time with your Soul. At each New Moon, you can set a goal, along with an action plan for how to get there.

For hearty souls who want more, there is an additional refresh, restart pivot time each lunar month that is determined by the phase of the Moon in which you are born. This is the Personal Lunar Cycle; the other is the Collective Lunar Cycle, as that is operational for all of us on Earth. Online training is in the works for the potent Personal Lunar Cycle. If you want more information before then, contact me.

Here are the dates and times for the New Moons in 2017.

Many blessing wishes as you align your Light with Moon Light.

Sacred Timing

play-994676_1280-dark-moon

When our Moon empties out at the end of a cycle, there is no light in the night sky. Correspondingly, during dark Moon times, our own light turns inward, in sync with a gravitational pull to slow down and be still.  This inward pull to stillness, to being with our deep selves, occurs twice each month. Once with the Collective Lunar Cycle, and once with the Personal Lunar cycle.

Both cycles, the personal and the collective, have the same rhythmic pattern; it is the start days that vary. The Collective Lunar Cycle starts with the New Moon, and the Personal Lunar Cycle starts with the phase of the Moon in which you are born. The Dark Moon, this inward pull to quiet receptivity, occurs three days before the New Moon in both the personal and collective cycles.

A Dark Moon in the collective cycle is occurring as I post this blog article.  The New Moon occurs Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 1:39 PM Eastern Daylight Time. This means that the Collective Dark Moon starts Thursday, October 27, 2016, in the afternoon in US Eastern time zone.  The inward pull toward quiet refection begins on Thursday and continues through the weekend, until the New Moon.  Within a day after the New Moon, we start to feel the upward energy surge again.

Not everyone feels this timing. It can start with a nudge, a pull toward stillness, reflection, rest, quiet. If you sense any of this, please open the invitation. The more we align with natural, cyclic timing, the more the experience becomes familiar to us. Like all new skill sets, when we pay attention, we open receptor pathways of the original blueprints that our bodies are timers.

The Personal Lunar Cycle is the other cycle with this rhythmic pattern of slowing down, release and renewal. I just had my Personal Dark Moon; It started late Friday, October 21, 2016, continued through Saturday, all day Sunday and ended with my Personal New Moon, Monday morning, October 24, 2016 in the 8 o’clock hour.

I anticipate the personal dark Moon phase as a sacred holiday. This is a time when I honour the whole of my life in synchronized flow with our living Universe. For us, on Earth, flow means the Moon is involved.

I have been aligning with this sacred timing since 1993.  For 95% of this time, I have planned and scheduled around this pivotal timing. I have minimized commitments, laid low, and observed sensate release and regeneration typical of cyclic endings and beginnings.

Seven years ago, I took a nursing job on a per diem basis, even though I worked fulltime. I choose to forego benefits like paid time off so that  I could control my schedule and not have to work on low energy Personal Dark Moon days.  There is predictive value in knowing this rhythm, and I used it for self-care and well-being, and to optimize the potent receptivity (intuition, inner knowing, coming to center) inherent during Dark Moon times.

This past Personal Lunar Cycle, though, I was under deadline for a high-pressured, freelance writing assignment and I had to work through the low energy time. Eliminating distractions, cancelling social plans and staying focused on the writing task, I did muster the stamina to complete the task. It took all that I had, energetically and emotionally.

The carrot at the end of the stick was that I knew the Moon was void of course all day on Monday, enhancing my ability to rest post project. My schedule was clear and I gave myself a do-nothing day. It was calm, sweet, comfortable, quiet, relaxing and restorative.

On Tuesday, I was aware of still needing a little slower down time and I eased into the day with that awareness, of being kind with myself.

I have been through enough of these Personal Lunar Cycle turnings to know that if I do not stop and be still during this precious, sacred time, a depression, an irritability, an out of sorts experience shows up.  It is the beast in nature; if we do not feed the beast what it needs, in this case rest and quiet, it roars in ugliness.

I did not get the stillness that I needed during my Personal Dark Moon, however, I knew enough to not continue forward before taking deep rest. I was a little off schedule, however, I still gave myself the self-care and stillness that I needed.

Our bodies need these rest and reset times daily, twice within the Lunar Cycle, one Personal, one Collective, and yearly, right before our birthday, with our Solar Return.

tiger-1673874_1280-resting

I want to shout from the rooftop, I want to play the trumpet and bang the cymbals, I want to sing an operatic High C to let people know about these natural cycle turnings, these pivot times of stop and restart. Coming to zero point with nature’s timing is an exquisite, sacred experience.

Much of what I read these days is that answers to our challenges are found through self-love. Listening to, and heeding, the needs of our precious human bodies, is to me, ultimate expression of self-love. In Sacred Heart living, listening for what the body needs is high priority.

For those new to this sacred timing, I am in the process of developing online training for recognizing and honouring these sacred cycle alignments. I anticipate these products to be ready on or before Spring, 2017.

Those who have taken my personal lunar cycle classes know this timing and I welcome your sharing on the value of this timing in your life. Please add your comments in the comments section below!

Sunrise, Sunset

sunrise

Through a moving FB post, a friend opened me to a new experience of Natural Time – the simple noticing of Sunrise and Sunset and their daily fluctuations.

This is a brilliant practice for moving through the hold that cultural conditioning about time tries to have over us. When we honour nature’s fluidity, we open to our own fluidity. For those in affinity with the Divine Feminine, Goddess Energy and Eastern philosophies, dawn and twilight have long been identified as Dakini time, when there is high receptivity to receiving intuition. Sunrise and sunset are Soulful living times.

Personal energy flows, and with it, power, stamina and focus, in relation to the ebbs and flows of the natural world. We are cyclic beings within a cyclic world. We can use information about natural cycles to our advantage. We can use the rhythms of life to plan, schedule, choose and create experiences that optimize our quality of life.

Do you want more time with your kids? Do you want an easier flow through challenging work projects? Do you want rest that satiates and restores you?

If yes, with this blog, you have found a place that offers information, resources, training and support to help you open to the flow of Time as an active participant rather than as passive subject.

For example:

Knowing when the Moon is Void of Course, we can choose to indulge in rest, relaxation, quiet cuddle time or mundane organizational tasks rather than force forward when our satellite, the Moon, has lost connection. With the Moon out of receiving range, our bodies feel this void on the physical energy level; focus is dimmed because the gravitational pull is toward reflection in contrast to action, and work projects meet with delays and difficulties. Work arounds involve knowing when the Moon is void and planning and scheduling accordingly. You can receive direct support about this here.

Knowing about Dark of the Moon days, and planning and scheduling accordingly, enhances dissolution of what has ended with the close of the Lunar cycle. This awareness allows for clear and uncluttered space to receive in the new cycle, with the restart button of each New Moon.

Observing the simple shifts of Sunrises and Sunsets imprints within our psyches the living awareness that we are in sync with the flow of Life.

Additional products to help identify and align with natural cycles, as well as services in support of shifting to an organic experience of Time, are in the works.  The Void of Course Moon Club is already up and running.

If you are not already a subscriber to this newsletter, consider subscribing, you can use the subscription button to the top left, and take advantage of special offers as online training, guided imagery relaxations and Lunar Rhythms Energy Club options come to market.

Love and Peace, and let’s flow!

Why Tolerance for Being Alone Is Necessary for Good Living

Aligning with natural cycles as a direct, physical experience requires living in ebb and flow, much as our Moon does. There are times of great activity and energy, such as at Full Moon times, and there are quieter times of repose, rest and stillness, such as at Dark of the Moon and Void of Course Moon times.

Until recently, I was not consciously aware that there is a generational divide, a large group of young people who might feel challenged acquiescing to the slower, low energy times. The term “low energy times” is not a pejorative. Resting and stillness are part of the productivity and creativity cycle and low energy times are cycle phases that naturally occur in life, nature and the human body.

An essay that I encountered recently spells out, in historical detail, the evolution of our comfort levels with resting, stillness, time alone, time in nature and doing nothing. While the essay is a literary read, it offers informative perspective on our current wildly wired time.

As a natural time consultant, I share experiences aligning with natural cycles, including the challenges and benefits. Through deep listening, shared reflection and intuitive coaching, and decades of lived experience, I assist others who wish to align with natural cycles.

My adaptation to living in alignment with natural cycles comes from my own unique constitution, and that is different for everyone. I am someone who loves silence, time in nature, and doing nothing. I was born before wireless communication was universal, as it is now. I remember Saturday afternoons, growing up, when I felt very bored. Daydreaming was my go to activity.

People born in more recent times still get bored, however, their antidote to boredom includes frequent texting to friends and folks who might not be friends. In addition, there are a gazillion television or youtube channels to distract, or gaming. As someone who invites the experience of doing nothing, I am up against mind-boggling competition!

There is a slight turn in the wind, though. Do a google search for “doctors prescribing time in nature” and a wide array of articles pop up. Spending time alone in nature or engaged in solitary activities like taking a nap, or daydreaming while sipping a cup of tea are indulgences from an earlier time, however, they are actually timeless examples of good medicine.

Being alone is easy for some and challenging for others, no matter the generation into which they are born. True connection feeds the soul, promotes health and a sense of well-being. Being comfortable being alone, with times of silence and stillness, ground the relationship with one’s self. Healthy relationship with one’s self opens the door to all other good relationships.

Please share your joys and challenges being alone in the comments section. I would love to hear from you!

In & Out Rhythms of Natural Time

It is the end of January and Lake Superior is not yet frozen. Yesterday, with the temperature in the mid 20s, I was sitting in the warmth of my car, communing with the Lake. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a kayaker paddling up the coastline. My first thought was that it must be freezing to be so close to the water like that. Then, I settled into watching the rhythm of this lone kayaker as he paddled his way through the waters. Observing the right, left, in, out, unceasing rhythm of his stabilizing paddling was meditative.

Watching him in his rhythmic process, it came to me that the ebbs and flows of natural time are like this, too; just like the breath, just like paddling a kayak, the repeating in and out rhythm of life.

A recent change I made relates to the in and out rhythm of the meridian time table. People who work with the meridians share that organs and systems of the body have a two-hour time frame where the work of that organ takes center stage. If you google “meridian time chart,” you will find options of charts to review. Some of the organs are regarded as yin, others are yang and this gives us the in and out, ebb and flow of the rhythmic, coordinated collaboration of the hard working organs of our physical bodies.

My Qigong teacher devoted recent classes to issues of sleep. In one of these classes, he shared how the gall bladder has its process of detoxifying release during the hours of 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM. While he did not say this, I somehow got, perhaps by osmosis, that the optimal time to go to sleep is11:00 PM, so that the gall bladder can have a chance for optimal functioning.

The gall bladder is an important organ for clearing emotional debris and this organ is associated with peace of mind. I have been going to sleep at 11:00 PM for a couple of weeks now and I do experience benefit in my life from this change.

Prior to making this choice of eyes closed, all devices off by 11:00 PM, my bed time was unstructured. Rarely was it was before 1:00 or 2:00 AM.

While I did not see it before, I do feel a connection now between maintaining a structure around sleep time and living with natural time. Before, I was free flowing with the time that I went to sleep, in keeping with the fluidity I feel, in general, living with natural time. The body is key and as I have written before, the timing of the moon through the personal and collective lunar cycles and void of course moon times can be experienced viscerally.

What is different for me now, though, is that I am integrating a rhythm that has been used in parts of the world for over 5000 years, the meridian time table with its cyclic workflow of our organs.

Structure is good; I like working with a set time for sleep. I find that going to sleep at 11:00 PM helps me focus the waking hours I do have in a more respectful way.

How about you? Do you work with a structured sleep time and how does that relate to your well-being?

2015 closes and 2016 beckons. Traditionally, people take a year-end review and plot out their plans for the months ahead. Life in the 5th Dimension, this new realm that we are in, invites another way. With 5D living, we are informed in present time; past and future thinking locks us out of Now, with all of its informing possibilities.

Yes, of course, we have to be accountable for our actions and if there is something that brings distress, it is helpful to review and reconsider. Heavy pondering, though, can weigh down being in the present, and we can miss the liveliness of Now. As I wrote in last week’s blog post, a simple stating to Self and Universe, or Spirit, or Field, of what we want and then allowing to receive takes efforting out of the equation. Present moment living can open us to self-worth and cosmic partnership. What we want is valid and we are in a co-creative collaboration with Light, Life and Love.

For a clearer picture of this process, I share a personal story about giving up making lists.

For years, a spiritual teacher of mine suggested letting go of making lists. Two years after hearing this, a moment opened and I said yes, let me try it. This was about three years ago now, and I remember the flow: it was a play day for me and I decided to let go of plotting and planning, the list making of what I hoped to accomplish that day. I knew on the feeling level that I wanted to go to the movies. Without access to even the list of movies or start times, I drove to the cinema. I parked the car and walked up to the front of the cinema with the list of movies showing and their start times. Standing there, I encountered a woman who said that she had a coupon for 2 for one movie price and she asked me if I was interested in seeing one of the movies that started soon. I do not remember the name of the movie that we saw, and I have not ever seen that woman again, however, it was a pleasant, kind experience and we both enjoyed the show and chatted about it for a few minutes after the movie.

Then, I felt the draw to go shopping. A shirt that I had been wanting was on the sale rack for $10 and a small salmon coloured suitcase with lots of zippered pockets, an item that I had been watching for months, was on sale for 1/3 of it’s original price. I still wear that shirt and the luggage is my favorite travel piece. I stayed in the flow of that day and was open to all of these experiences that supported my heart’s desire.

Since that majical day, I have given up making lists, even for the grocery store. I consider making lists a detriment because it takes me out of the present moment. There is nothing more precious nor more potent than the present moment. I do not consider myself expert in present moment living. I have a personal aversion to waste and I know that not living in the present moment is wasteful: of time, energy and resources, so I aspire to live in present moment and being list-free helps me.

Majic happens in this process. If I forget something from the store because I have no list, there is a new journey, a new experience, a new opening in that process; either I make do or when I do go back to get the missed item, some other experience or contact pops up.

There is a deepened experience of trust with this process, trust in myself and trust in the Universal Energies with whom I coexist, co-create and collaborate.

For anyone with a significant numbers of years lived, it is apparent that the years fly by. We start out in January and before we know it, the year has gone by. Present moment is all we have. Bringing attention to it enriches our lives.

Personal Dark Moon, December 8 2012

As I have shared many times and in many places before, in 1993, through a kinesthetic body experience, I “recovered” (in contrast to discovered!) a pattern of energy that is based on the phase of the Moon in which one is born.  Since that time I have lived with this cycle, planned life around its optimization, teach the technique and use it with intuitive counseling clients.  It has always been a hard sell, as modern life has been far removed from living with the rhythms of the Moon. When I first started blogging, I wrote posts about my experiences with this cycle.  It has been awhile since I have shared in that way.  A recent upsurge in client requests for this work and my own experience in this particular dark moon personal cycle prompt me to write this post.

Everyone has their own phase of the Moon in which they are born, one half of the two half cycle (New Moon to Full, Full to Dark Moon), one phase out of the 28 phase cycle, one phase out of the four quarter phase cycle, one phase out of the Moon’s eight phase cycle. Your sun/moon phase angle is unique to you. My sun/moon phase angle is when the sun and the moon are at 290 degrees apart each lunation, toward the end of the lunar cycle. Those of us born in the last half of the cycle tend to need a fuller stop in our dark Moon phases than those born in the first half of the cycle.

My new moon in the personal cycle occurs at 2:46 AM December 8, 2012, less than 12 hours of my writing this post. The New Moon, in both the personal and collective cycle is like the reset button and the three days before the New Moon, especially the 24 hours before, is known as the Dark of the Moon.

Ordinarily during this dark moon time , I take to the bed, reading mysteries or simply resting.  I have done some of that this dark moon. I also find myself upright, writing and it feels good. Leading in to this dark moon phase of the cycle I have had two days of down time. I have had appointments, however, easy and with no external pressure.  So, I come into this phase more relaxed than I usually am in my personal dark moon time.  The one word that comes to describe this particular cycle is sweet.  There is a lot of ease surrounding me right now, perhaps that ease has always been there and I am simply noticing it more.

Manifestation is another energy that is showing up in this dark moon phase.  Some posts earlier, I wrote about wanting a colouring book that had images of toruses in it. I did found a colouring book and gifted myself with it as a holiday gift. It arrived and I am working with it, however, it takes a lot of time to colour a page in this book and that is not how I want to spend time right now.  Seeing the image of torus in this book sparked the memory of slinkys.  Yesterday, I went out in search of a slinky and found one.  Quick manifestation has been happening a lot lately and I love it.  Maybe direct manifestation experiences are taking some of the edge of life off, allowing for more trust and ease.  I am also making more connections with people through direct contact and social media.  Meaningful connections, seeing and being seen, always helps as a life support.

I have the slinky on my desk, it is a small one, quite transportable, and as I play with it and bring it into its own full circle, there is tangible, visual reminder of what my teacher, Michele Mayama suggests: that the shape of our chakras are shifting into the torodial shape. The movie Thrive sources energy in the universe as related to the torus shape.

With the dark Moon in the personal lunar cycle, there seems to be a homecoming of sorts; of information and experiences settling in as one cycle completes and the next cycle is about to begin. As the torus shape shows us, there is continual unfolding, circle upon circle.  In a torus, the edges are softer, rounder, folding over into one’s self for a distinct experience of completion  continued. That is what the moon’s cycles do, too.

The Pull to Rest, Continued….

Juan Tamad

Agustin Rafael Reyes via Compfight

During the most recent Dark Moon (three full 24 hour periods before each New Moon) I started to write a post about resting in the Dark of the Moon and the post went missing! The post was there and then it was not there.  I accepted this happening as a cosmic intervention, a loud and clear reminder that it was time to rest, not write.

When I was living in Ashland, Oregan at the turn of the century, I heard Barry Brailsford speak to a group of people. He is an indigenous wisdom man, carrying the traditions of many ancient cultures.  That particular evening, Barry talked about not starting a writing project, or any project (Facebook take note!), near the end of the Lunar Cycle.  Barry said that it just made sense, and we only need to look at the sky, or feel within, to know this. As he said this, a friend in the audience looked at me and we both nodded, as she recognized that this was information I consistently shared in my work with Natural Time.

I know the tradition of syncing human activities with the Moon’s phases is something indigenous peoples do and have done forever and while I carry this tradition myself, deep within me, it was good to hear Barry say this in contemporary time. I have often felt like Cassandra sharing this information.

For me, the information came first through a study of astrology and then through direct experience of my body’s rhythms, the momentum to move forward, or to be still, in relation to the ebbs and flows of our Moon.

What I don’t get is how rare this seems to be to people, to coordinate how they feel and want to move or not want to move in relation to the Moon’s phase in the sky above.  To me, it is like a giant cosmic permission slip to follow one’s own rhythms in accordance with nature. It takes a lot to do that, I know, and you can read through earlier posts, and future posts, to learn about my struggles with this allowing.

In this most recent Dark Moon, I started to write about resting and the cosmos invited me to walk my talk. I accepted that invite and did rest as much as I could. For instance, not writing a voluntary blog post. There was something, though, that I had to do during this Dark Moon time and that was to show up for a part-time employment gig. Prior to the last few months, I had  the divine, supreme luxury of calling my own schedule. Now, I have a part-time gig where there is not as much leeway in my schedule as there was before. For the first time in about ten years, I had to show up for a job during the Dark Moon phase on Monday and Tuesday of this past week.

Monday went well, I didn’t have to do much, and  I rested Monday evening.  I did not sleep well during the night, as is often the circumstance right before a New Moon. Energy is stirring to begin anew.  The New Moon occurred on Tuesday morning at 11:02 AM EDT and I found it very difficult to work that day.  I was tired, out of sorts, and about 2 in the afternoon wondered to myself if I would make it through the rest of the day.

I did make it through the day and came right home, no stopping.  I crashed into rest that evening and being a self-indulgent sort, I rested the entire next day.  I knew from the feeling within my body that I had to come back to center, to reset to zero for the start of the new lunar cycle.  It was also the start of a new solar cycle, so the rest was deep and replenishing. I had the day to myself, a luxury, I know, and I read a mystery, stayed reclining most of the day, moved slowly, peacefully.

I woke this morning with a resurgence, a renewed energy field, fresh for the start of this new lunar cycle and this new season, Summer!, and with vitalized energy for my own work. New ideas, new enthusiasm, fresh perspective.

Not everyone can stop what they are doing and rest as the Moon floats from the end of one cycle to the beginning of the next. I know this and I will now, occasionally, fall into this category, too. However, if you struggle with depression, or irritability or frustration with your circumstances, I encourage you to consider realigning choices regarding energy exertion and the Moon’s movement. There are two cycles to consider, the Collective Lunar Cycle and your Personal Lunar Cycle. For simplicity’s sake, consider starting the alignment with the Collective Lunar Cycle. After you feel a resonance with that cycle, consider moving on to alignment with the Personal Lunar Cycle.

Things to consider for alignment with the Collective Cycle are to prepare for the naturally occurring low energy time during the Dark Moons, again, those are three days before each New Moon. You can find the date and time of the New Moons are on most calendars. During the Dark Moon times, consider having groceries on hand so you don’t have to stop at the supermarket on the way home from work. Pull out something from the freezer in the morning, so it is ready to go for dinner, instead of having to exert energy cooking. You might be too tired to enjoy what you cook during that Dark Moon time!  Have arrangements with family members for quiet time those evenings and limit external commitments as you can.  Most of all though, notice the longing in your body for rest, and allow time and space for it.  Planning ahead helps, whether it is with meals or housecleaning or activities for children or yourself. Queue up that book on your tablet, have something ready to go that relaxes.

Indigenous peoples have followed the lunar rhythms since the beginning of time. These cultures are not prominent any longer, however their wisdom still works. The cultures that have been prominent recently have attempted to use dominion over Nature to stay in power.  Their grip is loosening. The Shift  (paradigm/age/new dimension/new field) that we are in presents an opening to again connect live with Nature and reach for synchronicity, alignment and comfort from one ever-changing constant in life, our Moon.

Personal Dark Moon, June 2012 Experience

It is June 13, 2012 and I had my New Moon in the Personal Lunar cycle during the bewitching 3 am hour this morning. The Dark Moon days, three days before each New Moon, were very different this cycle than they have been in previous cycles. I think the big difference between this past cycle and previous cycles is that in the May 2012 cycle I had the awareness that I needed more Chi in my life.  This insight brought forth the plan to cook at least one warm fresh vegetable a day.  I did this with relative success for the past 28 days and do feel like I picked up my Chi considerably.  The fact that I am eating less in general also feels related to eating hearty vegetables every day.  With more Chi running through my body, the Dark Moon phase of this past Personal Lunar Cycle felt less like a deep pull into darkness and more like  a conscious witnessing of a cycle turning. I have tracked this cycle faithfully for 19 years and I know that there are variations in each cycle, however, it does feel that with more Chi running in my body, I did not have to go down so deeply to rest this past dark moon. This feels like a gift.

In the recent dark moon phase, just preceding my Personal New Moon, I still took to the bed. I schedule the 24 hours before my  Personal New Moon as a sacred time, a time for rest and relaxation and I treasure this time.  Despite 19 years of faithfully following this cycle, my mind still comes in during a dark moon day shouting, “Shouldn’t you….blah, blah, blah,”  I  let myself rest. This recent Dark Moon phase was mostly a conscious listening time and I allowed myself the space and stillness to do that.

What I heard during the stillness was to Be Happy.  It is hard, sometimes, in modern life, to look beyond the fear and scare, and choose the other.  One of the opportunities that I am working on is clearing my third eye chakra to see possibilities beyond what I know or even imagine, because imagination can be limited.  I want unlimited life experience.  I want to open to what is possible even though it has not been in my realm of possibility.  I expand openness and interaction with the unlimited possibility and potential.

What I heard in this recent Dark Moon time of my Personal Lunar Cycle is that that my heart wants to be happy. Despite all conditioning prior to this moment, I will give my heart what it wants and explore with unbridled curiosity the discovery of happiness.  I will notice the positive, the up versus down.   If I hadn’t stopped and laid on my bed with my eyes wide open, looking out on the summer green and letting that visceral into my heart and my body, I do not know if I would have heard this whisper into my right ear, from my inner self to my conscious self. I did hear it though, and voice witness to that hearing.

May’s Personal Dark Moon lead me to eat better.  Which I am doing! June’s Personal Lunar Cycle leads me to embrace happiness more consciously.  I will let you know next month how this cycle goes.

Alignment with natural cycles allows us to connect consciously with the stop and start points of the cyclical nature of life.  It allows us to regroup.  I have written about the Personal Lunar Cycle before, and I have lived with it since 1993 and have been teaching it in my group and individual intuitive practice since 1995.  I find the Personal Lunar Cycle to be a valuable predictor of energy levels as it is based on the phase of the Moon in which you are born.  This is a cycle that repeats each month of one’s life and if you would like to connect and work with your own Personal Lunar Cycle, let me know!
